Here are some articles I wrote in December and January:
Building a Vocabulary - I interviewed performance artist/dancer Allie Hankins about her involvement with the 2015 community project Physical Education.
SoCal Gothic - I reviewed Miranda July's wonderful new book about fighting and ejaculation, The First Bad Man.
Pixie Sticking Points - I interviewed Scott McCloud about his new fiction comic The Sculptor.
I also wrote some film shorts. I like reading film shorts(2) so I'll include them here.

Tiny Robots in the Wine
I'm working on a candy wrapper for school and I decided to make a robot design on the inside of the wrapper as a deliverable. After the wrapper completes its candy preserving duty, it can be re-purposed into a little paper robot to play with, collect and/or arrange with other robots in sexually suggestive positions.
I've been excited about patterns lately — like the St. Dalfour tea pattern after which the surrounding robot pattern was modeled. It's isn't an exact rip off but I did want to embrace the organic, non-patterned pattern feel to it.
Non-pattern. Pattern. Non-pattern. Pattern. Non-pattern. Pattern. Non-pattern. Pattern. Non-pattern.

They Might Be Giants LP Project
A recent class project: design an LP cover of our choice. I chose They Might Be Giants popular album Flood because I wanted to create lots of silly symbols. This involved listening to the album again and making lists like, "armchair, casket, bag of groceries, head in a basket."

The Return - the kids
I've been working on this longer piece called The Return.
This orange-haired guy has a horn coming out of his head. Does it figure into the plot? Not at all. Shhhhhhhhh just accept it.

BAD GIRLS! (Wayward Girls Review)
I made this comic about Michiel Budel's Wayward Girls for Comics Workbook. A word for Wayward Girls' specific flavor of humor is on the tip of my tongue but my head is stuck so far up the butt of the Italian Renaissance that daren't tip my tongue anywhere but inside my own mouth. Gross imagery, Suzette.

Steinberg Exhibit at YU
![]() |
| I went and saw the Saul Steinberg exhibit at Yale Union. It was so easy. Exhibition hours are Thurs-Sat 12-8pm. There's a suggested $5 donation and a really boss accompanying pamphlet. |
![]() |
| This one was my favorite - County Noises |
![]() |
| Honorable mention for favorite - Odd Couples |
The exhibit ends August 10th. I highly recommend it. It was square in the butt of my interests but seems pretty translatable to persons interested in New Yorker cartoons, 2-D art, page layout design, print publication illustrations, American history and/or an artist's changing body of work over time.
